Contains the transcript of this case in which the defendant, captain of the Bark "Freeman", is accused of murdering one of his Japanese sailors while travelling to Batavia from Yokohama. The captain cited potential mutiny as his defense. The defense attorney also attempted to question the ability of the Japanese witnesses' to take an oath as non-christians and the validity of testimony in translation.
